CISRA’s Synergy Health Newsletter

Issue 12 Preview. Marshall Protocol Presentations at Large International Autoimmunity Conference

by J. C. Waterhouse, Ph.D.

Issue 12 of CISRA’s Synergy Health Newsletter will include a discussion of the 6th International Congress on Autoimmunity in Portugal. I was one of the authors of one of the studies presented at the conference. I was involved in the analysis of the data gathered from 100 patients with autoimmune diseases treated by the Marshall Protocol and helped write the presentation given by Cpt. Tom Perez (6th International Congress on Autoimmunity, Porto, Portugal, September 10, 2008). I also participated in gathering and analyzing data from patients with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome that was also presented at the conference.

Professor Trevor Marshall, Ph.D., (Murdoch University) was invited to co –chair a session on vitamin D and he gave one of the keynote presentations of the session. Captain Tom Perez, presented data illustrating a positive response to the Marshall Protocol in 20 autoimmune conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosis, diabetes type I and II, psoriasis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Sjogren’s syndrome, scleroderma, uveitis, myasthenia gravis and ankylosing spondylitis. The analysis showed that 81% of patients with autoimmune diseases who had been on the protocol for 18 months or more reported being improved all of the time as compared to prior to beginning the protocol — even when experiencing immunopathology (Jarisch-Herxheimer) reactions.

Dr. Greg Blaney discussed how data he gathered supports Marshall’s views on the significance of vitamin D metabolite levels in diagnosing chronic disease. Amy Proal presented data on how nuclear receptors in the endometrium in women interact with vitamin D metabolites and bacterial infection, and could account for the high rate of autoimmune disease in women. Meg Mangin presented data and discussed study methodology in a poster presentation.
